Food budget, spending, and accountability

This is where I will document my budget for groceries and show you all how well (or not so well) I am sticking to it! I plan to keep all my reciepts and tally up exactly how much I am spending on food at the grocery store, and when we do go out I plan to document that too. This is a way of  keeping myself accountable to my goal of saving money and eating 90% at home. We are a family of 5 with 3 kids ages 9, 4, and 2  just so you all know how many I am feeding on this budget.

January grocery budget ~ 400.00  I do 2 grocery shopping trips a month, one on the 1st & 15th, Goal is to spend not more than 200.00 on each trip

Total spent so far in Jan. 150.00. A milk, juice, bread, and egg run to Wegmans ( no coupons used) ~ 17.00
trip to bottom Dollar foods for BBQ sauce, mayo, and Cola ~ 7.25

Hi, I found you through FB, we too are military, I’m a sahm & we are 6 total.
I’m looking forward to following along and seeing your progress.
Honestly though I’m shocked at $200 for the month.
We budget everything, cook 95% meals at home mostly from scratch and are at $400 every payday.
Can’t wait to read more 🙂

Jessica, thanks so much for stopping by and for commenting!
I actually need to change the above wording as my budget for the entire month is definately more than 200.00, that is just for the 1st part of the month, you being military im sure you know what I mean, I do a grocery shopping trip on the 1st and 15th and 200 is my budget for each trip so I need to fix what ive written above…its late, so you will have to forgive me! 200 bucks for the entire month would be totally amazing though!
